Lisa Kurtz
A professional potter since 1985 when she received her Master of Art degree in Ceramics from The University of Louisville, Lisa started her pottery, Highland Pottery, in the eclectic Highlands neighborhood of Louisville, KY. She has taught clay (both hand building and wheel throwing) at several community colleges and craft centers. A member of many juried guilds, in 2015-16 Lisa was a Master Artist in Tennessee Craft’s Master Artist Apprentice Program. Her clay work has been exhibited, sold, and won awards in galleries across the U.S. and in national and regional juried fine art and craft shows. “My favorite part of working in this medium is that people can use my pieces. This is important to me as a potter and a clay artist. Whether they use my pots in everyday rituals or celebratory meals, that connection to others through my art is what motivates me.”
