About the Artist:
Jacene Witzel has had an off and off again relationship with ceramics since 1994. The earliest influence of ceramic art in her life was “The Brady Bunch” Season 4, Episode 5 “Fright Night”; the episode where Carol Brady makes a ceramic bust of Mike Brady. Since then, she has always wanted to create a bust of her own. It wasn’t until 2015 that she was able to make that dream a reality. Since that time, her work has been mainly focus on sculptural figurative ceramics.
Work is a schizophrenic exercise in themes and series based on animal puns, They Might Be Giants song titles, facial expressions of emotion, and anything else that pops into her head and won’t stop rolling around in there.
She is also a mother and a licensed architect in Knoxville, Tennessee.
