Carri Jobe
Carri Jobe explores painting through a restricted set of formal concerns and source material. Her work explores communication, color and psychological awareness. She is cheifly focused on the expansive and relational process that occurs between the artist and the work during the process of painting, and then the interaction between the painting and the viewer when the work is complete. Jobe was born in Nashville, Tennessee and was influenced by her grandfather who modeled making art while also working as an accountant. She received her BFA at University of Tennessee and then spent time in San Antonio, Texas and Brooklyn, New York where she continued her art practice, worked in non-profit administration, and coordinated art handling and installation projects. After returning to Tennessee, she co-founded Tri-Star Arts with her husband, Brian R. Jobe. They now work together in Knoxville and the Chattanooga area, and are also raising three active boys.
